Technical Sales: Technical Sales show customers how their product and after sales support will meet their needs.
By combining technical knowledge with commercial training Technical Sales provide vital, detailed information about what they're selling and its use in a client's business.
Customers are usually technical staff from the manufacturing industry and the work involves spending a large amount of time with them.
To ensure customers', and your own company's, needs are met, Technical Sales also regularly liaise with other members of their sales team and colleagues from a range of departments including research, development, design, purchasing, production, and quality.
Typical work activities include:
Traveling to visit customers and building a quick rapport with them Listening to customers and using astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs Persuading customers that your product will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery Calculating customer quotations Negotiating tender and contract terms to meet both customer and company needs Closing the sale by agreeing terms and conditions Administering customer accounts Analyzing costs and sales Preparing reports for head office Co-coordinating sales projects Searching for new customers that could benefit from company products Taking part in trade shows, conferencing and marketing events Performing technical presentations to groups and demonstrating how your product will meet customer needs Building and maintaining a close relationship with customers Solving client problems by working closely with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments such as: research; design; development; production; distribution; quality assurance; as well as senior company managers Helping in the design of custom-made products.

The following skills would improve a candidates chances; Knowledge of the pressure or temperature transducer industry and familiarity with production oil wells. Previous experience with Mil-Specs, testing, and documentation.
Electronic Assembler: A FLSA NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE Route, wire, assemble and install electrical and electronic components according to specifications using hand tools and equipment. Assemble and test electronic parts applying knowledge of electronic theory and assembly techniques. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Read work orders, drawings and specifications to determine established assembly methods. Receive verbal guidance and instruction from supervisor. Perform sign-off on work order paperwork with neatness and accuracy for every task completed Cut wire to specified lengths using wire cutters and thermal wire strippers. Route, comb, twist, wrap, tie and attach wire to termination points such as straight pins, bifurcated terminals, flattened and pierced terminals, and hooked terminals as well as solder pads using magnifying equipment, soldering iron, tweezers and other hand tools. "Compensate" parts according to test specifications which may include installing or changing resistors and/or resistance wire (springs). Use ohmmeter to verify correct wire resistance; wrap wire around drill-bit tool to coil into spring. Conduct on-line functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, such as balance test and bridge resistance test using multimeter; electrical and insulation testing using megohmmeter as well as other tests using electrical testing instruments. Clean components during assembly by spraying or wiping parts with specific solutions, air drying, baking in oven and finishing with cotton swabs. Perform final cleaning tasks for units to be shipped or sent to Stores; may include injecting parts with solvents, brushing, buffing and polishing with bead blaster or bench grinder equipment. Pot, encapsulate, varnish or conformal coat electrical and electronic details using various epoxy and silicone rubber compounds. Nameplate parts with electroetching machine, engraving pen or keyboard labeling machine. Conduct self-inspections on all tasks performed. Install element and/or sensor assemblies or subassemblies in cases. Place covers on units. Understand and follow established Company safety policies and procedures at all times.
MAY ALSO INCLUDE: Spotweld parts. Clean and dust bench areas and production area. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Assemble parts using binocular microscope. Repair defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well (9-12 grade level). 2 years experience in a variety of Company assembly processes preferred. Vocational certification of 3 to 6 months of electronic assembly preferred.
OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS: May be required to sit for 5.5 hours per day or more. Simple grasping, wrist twisting and fine manipulation of fingering required to perform duties while using necessary tools. Occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds for distances up to 200 feet. May be required to pass vision test according to military specifications for some jobs. Must be able to handle moderate noise levels and varying temperatures as well as nonhazardous fumes and odors on occasion. Must be able to follow documented procedures with precision and accuracy as instructed.
